Viola (Cesario)
Gemma Louise Murphy is an Australian Actress and all-around creative. She started off her career in the arts as a dancer before transitioning into acting. Gemma is a Howard Fine Acting Studios Alumni and has also trained with international teachers, Bob Corff for accent work and the Lee Strasberg Studio in West Hollywood. Gemma has had a guest role in Neighbours and starred in a number of short films and theatre shows. She wrapped touring Oscar Wilde's play, "Lady Windermere's Fan" for Mornington Peninsula Theatre Company last year, and is looking forward to returning and playing Viola in Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night"
Orsino
A classically trained noble, Orsino has been Duke of Australia for as long as he can remember. He has enjoyed roles as diverse as sitting around moping about love, to getting really kind of fired up about it. Most recently, he’s been lucky enough to be featured pining after Countess Olivia. In the past, he’s been portrayed by a wide array of talented people, from BAFTA award winner Chiwetel Ejiofor*, to Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards nominee** Paul Rudd. Today it’s Sean. This is actually Orsino’s second time being portrayed by Sean, and that’s fine.
*Best Actor in a Leading Role, ’12 Years a Slave’
**Favourite Movie Actor, ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’
Olivia
Currently a secondary school English and Drama teacher in Frankston, Holly is a Naarm/Melbourne-based actress. This is her second show with Mornington Peninsula Theatre Company, playing Margaret in their October 2024 season of Much Ado About Nothing.
She has long pursued both drama and music, and has participated in programs with the Victorian School of Arts, as well as with Chris Thompson, former head of the Greenroom Awards, and Coach Music Academy. Holly played Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Goodfellow Theatre Company, as well as Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Other credits include Medea (Medea), Cymbeline (Imogen), The Dutch Courtesan (Beatrice), and All’s Well That Ends Well (Diana) with Australian Catholic University.
Malvolia
Kate is a Melbourne based actor who enjoys exploring new work that allows the audience to reflect on their own circumstances. Since completing her Bachelor of Arts, Acting (Federation University); her highlights include "Comedy of Errors" (Australian Shakespeare Company), "Mocha Is Not Coffee!" (Norbury Productions), and touring as a puppeteer with "Moon Sailors".
Feste
For many years I've trod the boards
Seeking to entertain the hoardes
My face has wrinkled along the way
And plastic surgery I now must pay.
Theatre, film and tv I sought
Some did drown and some I caught.
Starvation, poverty, joy and pain
Many times I feared I would go insane
But Feste and Jonty called my name
And now i have naught to blame.
Maria
Amy studied the Acting Essentials course at 16th Street Actors Studio (2022-2023). She performed in Hamlet as Ophelia with Grover Theatre Company (2022). She has also performed with Eltham Little Theatre in Much Ado About Nothing as Hero (2023) and as Hope and Ginette in Almost Maine (2023). Amy performed with Mordialloc Theatre Company in Veronica’s Room as the Girl (2024).
She has really enjoyed working with this incredibly talented, kind and funny cast. She hopes you enjoy this fun production of Twelfth Night!
Sir Toby Belch
Bringing boisterous charm and unrepentant mischief to life, Callum is thrilled to stagger onto the stage as Sir Toby Belch! A lover of revelry, questionable decisions, and inappropriate jokes, Callum Sir Toby is the life of every party—and possibly the reason it spirals out of control.
Callum moonlights as a drama teacher at Clyde Secondary College where he encourages young performers to embrace the chaotic fun of the stage.
Sir Andrew Aguecheek
Shwethadri Santhu has been passionately treading the boards since childhood, portraying a colorful array of characters in India and beyond. From brooding Dostoevskian anti-heroes to scheming Shakespearean villains, Shwethadri’s range is as vast as a Twelfth Night feast.
Recently seen as Borachio in Much Ado About Nothing with Mornington Peninsula Theatre Company, he now dons the chaotic boots of Sir Andrew Aguecheek, a knight with more ambition than wit.
Oh, witless knight, who aims to charm the court,
With words that trip, though earnest in their part.
A lover’s hope, in clumsy lines, falls short,
Yet steals the stage with his unguarded heart.
Greatness pursued with swagger and delight,
Though fools may stumble, laughter makes them bright.
Sir Andrew’s escapades prove that even the silliest of characters can bring a touch of poetry to the stage—intentionally or otherwise.
Sebastian
Iona has been heavily involved in theatre/acting since joining Victorian Youth theatre in 2015 at the age of 8. Since then she has been a part of multiple shows with both the company and her school, her favourite roles being Donkey in Shrek and the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard Of Oz.
Iona has recently graduated from high school and is studying paramedicine at Monash in 2025 while continuing to pursue acting where she can.
Iona has thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with The Mornington Peninsula Theatre company and all of her fellow cast members
Antonio
Smiling is infectious,
You catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner,
And someone saw me grin,
When he smiled I realised,
I’d passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile,
Then realised it’s worth,
A single smile just like mine,
Could travel round the earth.
So if you feel a smile begin,
Don’t leave it undetected,
Let’s start an epidemic quick,
And get the world infected.
Not my words, Spike Milligan’s!!!!
Curio/Priest/Officer
Mojdeh Kashani leads a double life: journalist by day, actress/model by night (think Clark Kent, but with better hair). Driven by a passion for storytelling that can't be contained in just one career, she's fearlessly pursued both acting and modeling, proving that some people can have it all. Her training resume reads like a who's who of Aussie acting schools: NIDA, Film & Television Studio International, and Screen Actors Australia – basically, she's legit. Numerous short films can attest to her versatile talent. Now, she's bravely tackling not one, not two, but three roles in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night – Curio, Officer, and the Priest. Clearly, she's not afraid of a challenge (or a quick costume change)!
Curio/Priest/Officer

And recently playing seven different characters in “My Brilliant Apocalypse “.
Film has been a great adventure for Sue having lead roles in over 50 films.
Belinda, a lead role in a feature film “Queen Evil ‘and many short films which have won multiple awards around the world in Film Festivals. You will also see Sue pop up in many Television Commercials.
Sue has studied at The National Theatre, NIDA, Howard Fine Studios, Brave Studios and 16th Street.
Director
I first directed Twelfth Night when I was the Artistic Director of The Royal George Theatre in London in the mid-nineties. It was an obvious choice to be the first Open-Air production for MPtc here at The Briars. We plan to put on one open-air show per year from now on, and we are already planning next year's production; no spoilers other than to say it is one of Shaky's finest, and it starts as a comedy up until one of the characters dies, then things take a darker turn. Do you know which one it is? Most people see it as a tragedy (which it undoubtedly is - but as always with the Shakester, there's much more to it than that)
We would love to take that show to other spaces around the Peninsula - anybody know a winery that might be suitable? Please let me know.
"Twelfth Night," was first performed in 1602, is a masterclass in mistaken identities, unrequited love, and the whimsical interference of fate. Central to the plot is Viola, shipwrecked and separated from her twin brother Sebastian. To navigate this foreign land, she assumes the guise of a young man named Cesario and enters the service of Duke Orsino.
Orsino, blissfully unaware of Cesario's true identity, sends him to woo the fair Olivia on his behalf. However, Olivia falls for Cesario, setting a complicated love triangle into motion. Adding to the confusion is the arrival of Sebastian, whose uncanny resemblance to Cesario drives the narrative's comedic misunderstandings to delightful heights.
Shakespeare weaves a rich tapestry of secondary characters, from the wily Feste, a fool whose jests are laden with wisdom, to the pompous steward Malvolio, who dreams of grandeur. Themes of love, identity, and the fine line between madness and sanity are artfully explored, making "Twelfth Night" timeless.
Ultimately, the play celebrates love's unpredictable nature while delivering a joyful resolution that restores harmony, reminding audiences of the transformative power of love and laughter.
2025 MPtc productions will be
Oliver Goldsmith's play "She Stoops to Conquer" - a delightful comedy full of wit and humour. It revolves around mistaken identities and social faux pas as Kate Hardcastle pretends to be a maid to win the affection of the shy Charles Marlow. The play highlights class distinctions and human folly with enormous charm and cleverness.
and
Anton Chekhov's masterpiece "The Seagull" - a profound exploration of the complexities of human emotions, unrequited love, and artistic ambition. Set in a Russian country estate, it delves into the lives and aspirations of struggling artists and their tangled relationships, highlighting themes of change, despair, and the relentless pursuit of meaning.
The dates and venues for these productions are yet to be fixed, so keep an eye on our socials etc for more details as they are confirmed. We look forward to welcoming you to our productions of these wonderful plays.
