Mission statement
Theatre is for everyone. Every one of us is born with an inbuilt desire—we are hard-wired to tell and to be told stories. Ever since the ancient Greek chorus, theatre has striven to be bold, exciting, innovative, and daring. It is an inclusive, shared experience that awakens the imagination, inspires empathy, demands discussion, and serves as a vital driver for social change.
Live theatre is the greatest sustenance for our collective spirit on this crazy planet. Where else can 20, 50, or 500 people sit together, breathe the same air, and share a one-time-only experience? The audience and performers willingly suspend disbelief to journey somewhere together.
Our Mission & Community Commitment
The Mornington Peninsula Theatre Company (MPtc) envisions a creative arts landscape where theatre is truly barrier-free. Operating across the Mornington Peninsula, our mission is to leverage the transformative power of performance to actively challenge social isolation, enhance community wellbeing, and foster deep intergenerational connection.
By delivering accessible workshops and collaborative, shared theatrical experiences, MPtc empowers locals—particularly our most vulnerable youth and senior demographics—to build confidence, develop lifelong skills, and re-anchor themselves within a supportive community fabric. We dismantle societal barriers to ensure that collaborative storytelling breaks down isolation, heals disconnection, and acts as a powerful catalyst for meaningful community health and wellbeing.
Acknowledgement of Country
We respectfully acknowledge the traditional owners, the Bunurong people, as the custodians of this land. We pay respect to all Aboriginal community Elders, past, present, and emerging who have resided in the area and have been an integral part of the history of the region.
