About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, local “camera bug” to become our official behind-the-scenes and live-performance photographer. You will be the visual storyteller for our productions—from the first read-through to the final curtain call—capturing images that bring our shows to life for our local audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Rehearsal Shoots: Drop into the rehearsal space to capture candid, authentic “behind-the-scenes” moments and character development.
Dress Rehearsals & Performances: Shoot high-quality live-action photos during dress runs or opening nights.
Publicity & Social Media: Deliver a curated selection of polished images (headshots, action shots, and venue atmosphere) that the MPtc team can use across Mornington Peninsula Theatre Company’s Instagram and MPtc’s Facebook Page.
Archiving: Keep a neat, organised digital folder of the best photos for future marketing use.
What We’re Looking For
A local Mornington Peninsula resident with a passion for photography and live theatre.
Own your own camera equipment (DSLR or mirrorless) with a telephoto lens or fast prime lens suitable for low-light indoor/theatre conditions.
Ability to work respectfully in a quiet, unobtrusive manner so as not to distract the actors or the audience.
Basic photo-editing skills to adjust lighting, crop, and colour-correct images before handing them over.
What’s in it for You
Front Row Access: Unrivalled, free access to thrilling local theatre and dress rehearsals on the Peninsula.
Portfolio Building: Build a dynamic portfolio of live performance and event photography to showcase your skills.
Community Connection: Become a valued member of a vibrant, friendly, and growing not-for-profit arts organisation.
Credit: Your photography will be credited across MPtc’s official channels, giving your work local exposure.
